(updated: 5th January 2023)
As many of you may already be aware, there is currently a Europe wide cat vaccination shortage, this is due to various factors including the increased demand from the sharp rise of pet ownership during lockdown. This means that there could be times when pets don’t receive their annual booster exactly 12 months after the previous injection.
We have spoken to the vaccine manufacturers and the licensing officers for Isle of Wight County Council and can confirm that in most situations the protection from the vaccines is likely to extend to 3 months after the previous injection. This means that not only is your pet protected if we have to delay giving the vaccine due to a lack of supply but also you should still be able to board your pet at a local kennel or cattery.
Please phone to book your appointment as usual but understand that we probably won’t be able to offer you an appointment until at least 10 weeks after your due date. Even then, unfortunately, there is a chance we won’t receive sufficient stocks and might have to postpone further.
We thank you for your understanding and will endeavor to keep you updated as we receive more news.
